Abstract

223,461. Langbein, J. Jan. 29, 1924. Gilding ; ornamenting. Artificial stones or cold glazes are given ornamental or protective coatings by the application of a solution of artificial resin, to which coating is applied, as by dusting or spraying thereon, gold leaf, bronze, paint, wool-dust, or glass powder. The artificial resins may be made from phenol and formaldehyde derivatives, to which may be added, to produce a glossy surface, casein and varnish, or to produce a matt surface, natural resin, fatty oil such as linseed oil, wood oil, and hydrocarbons such as paraffin. The gold leaf &c. may be mixed with artificial resin solution or oil, and applied to the dry artificial resin coating, and baked. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 171,369, [Class 95, Paints &c.]; 188,187 ; 197, 235 and 205,547, [both in Class 95, Paints &c.].
