Abstract

222,595. Paddle, L. H. July 12, 1923. Thermionic amplifiers and detectors. - In a method of controlling reaction in a detector valve, a tuned circuit 19, 22, Fig. 2, arranged between the positive pole of the high-tension battery 23 and the output transformer or telephone 16, is connected to the grid oscillatory circuit 12, 13 in such a way that energy from the anode circuit is impressed upon the grid circuit as a whole. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 2, the coil 19 acts as an auto-transformer, the secondary of which is tuned by a condenser 18. In a modification, the tuned reaction circuit 56, 57, Fig. 5, is connected by a tuned variometer 54 to the grid circuit. In both arrangements, the grid circuit may be replaced by the tuned anode circuit of a highfrequency amplifying valve. Specification 162,097 is referred to. The second Provisional Specification describes slight modifications of the modification shown in Fig. 5.
