Producers.-A gas producer is provided with a water jacket the hot water from which is sprayed into the incoming air blast so that the air is heated and saturated before reaching the fuel bed. Hot water from the jacket B passes by a, pipe C to a spray G in a vessel H having an air inlet V, the heated and saturated air entering the producer A by a pipe Y. The water collecting in an overflow vessel J is raised by a pump L to a cistern N connected by a pipe Q with the water jacket B, and by raising or lowering the cistern N, the pipes leading to which are flexible, the quantity of water sprayed into the vessel H may be regulated.
