Abstract

199,317. Brown, R. Oct. 23, 1922. Water-circulation, apparatus for promoting.- A primary local circulation is set np in the water confined within an open-mouthed collector arranged close to the crown of the furnace before the main circulation can be set up to discharge water from the apparatus above the water level. A casing 4 clamped to the stays 5, 6 extends into the steam space 11, its top being closed by a cap 12. The lower end has a flared collector 13 arranged close to the furnace crown and receives the nozzle 17 of the dip pipe 16 clamped to the stay 7. A branch 14 of the casing 4 extends from well below the water line to just above the normal water level and terminates in a goose neck. In a modification, the lower end of the casing 4 is bifurcated so as to serve the crowns of adjacent furnaces.
