Abstract

336,932. MacDonald, J. A. July 29, 1929. Divided application. Producers. - In apparatus for making producer gas from solid or liquid fuel, air is admitted through a pipe 3 adjustable in a container 1, and water is supplied in excess through a nozzle 4 so that surplus water floods the bottom of the container, the gas being withdrawn through a pipe 5 also adjustable. An incandescent zone 7 of limited extent is obtained by suitable adjustment of the conditions of working, and positions of outlet and inlet pipes. Solid fuel is supplied through a cover 2, and liquid fuel is injected intothe combustion zone or supplied through the air inlet pipe, the combustion zone in the latter case being localized in a mass of fire brick chippings, adjacent the end of the inlet pipe.
