Abstract

213,641. Sprengers, T. Dec. 5, 1922. Collapsable and reversible seats; arm-rests.- A motor-car seat of the type wherein the occupant may face either backwards or forwards is provided with upholstered seat, back, and arm rests in each position and may be folded and removed from the floor without disturbance of any fixings. A pair of sockets with grooved extension rails 2 are fixed in the floor to accommodate the lower ends of the legs 1 to which the seat frame 3 is pivoted so as to enable it to be turned over to provide the two seating positions. A pair of curved slotted members 6 on the seat frame engage the ends of a pivot bar carrying the back which may be secured at either end of the slotted members, to suit the respective seating positions by a pin and slot connection 7, 7<1>. Arm-rests 4 capable of rotation are attached to the back, and these like the back and seat, are upholstered on both sides. When folded the seat may be stored under the front or back seats, the seat being folded in alignment with the legs which are lifted from their sockets and slid horizontally along the rails.
