Abstract
207,901. Smith, A. J. Q., (Dvorak, W.). Sept. 13, 1922. Pivoted and sliding jaw wrenches.-In a pipe wrench of the kind in which a toothed gripping face on the end of a handle bar cooperates with toothed surfaces on a V- shaped jaw pivoted to the handle bar, the toothed faces 6, 16 are formed on straight lines, and the V-shaped member 9 is of the same thickness as the handle 5 and is pivoted to an offset portion of a saddle 7 adjustable along tha handle. The saddle 7 is secured in adjusted position by a thumb screw 8 engaging one of a number of holes 5<1> in the handle and the member 9 is pressed towards the teeth 6 by a spring secured centrally to a pin 14 on the saddle 7 and having its ends 11, 15 bearing against the handle and member 9, the end 11 being guided by a stirrup 12 fixed to the handle.
