Abstract

The invention provides a circulating bucket elevator apparatus for shovelling up and conveying bulk materials, and particularly for unloading ships. The apparatus includes a feeder section (3) attached to the lower section of a bucket elevator (1). The feeder section incorporates circulating conveyor means (9) which can be driven into the bulk material, shovel the material up, and feed it to the buckets (5) of the bucket elevator via a chute (10). The feeder section is articulated to the main frame (6) of the bucket elevator and can be swung in relation to it by means of a piston and cylinder device, and the circulating conveyor means consists of a feeder (9) on each side of the bucket elevator, feeding the elevator from both sides through the chute (10). The apparatus permits a high rate of removal of material from even hard-to- reach areas of bulk storage. <IMAGE>
