Abstract
200,305. Mulford, J. G. May 24, 1922. Spring surfaces.-A spring mattress or the like in which the springs act independently comprises a padded top 4 secured by its lower edges to a box frame 1 containing helical springs 3 mounted on transverse battens 2 and having their axes perpendicular to the padded surface. The borders 6 of the padded top are quilted and the upper and lower surfaces are buttoned through, the top coils of the springs being attached to the under surface so that each spring is concentric with a button 7 in each alternate transverse row of buttons. Tarpaulin is used for the bottom 9 of the pad, while a band 10 is arranged around the sides of the mattress into which the bedclothes may be tucked.
