Abstract

A seed-sowing device comprises a chassis 1 having support wheels 2, a ploughshare 100 for forming a furrow in the soil, a seed dispensing receptacle 108 having its base formed by a slidable seed-releasing shutter 111 connected to the support wheels 2 so that the shutter 111 opens to dispense the seed into the furrow and closes to receive further seed, at regular intervals of distance travelled regardless of the speed of travel of the device, and furrow closers 119. The slidable shutter 111 is connected by a sheathed cable 117 to a plunger 14 which is reciprocated vertically by the wheels 2 to punch holes in a plastics strip delivered by a roller 5. A further plastics film 103 may be laid over the seeded furrow after closing, and secured by turning soil over its edges by discs 105. <IMAGE>
