Abstract

194,267. Huguenin, A., and Gagg, A. Feb. 28, 1922, [Convention date]. Rotary spherical valves.-The closure facing of a rotary spherical valve is formed separately from the valve member, and is pressed against its seating by fluid pressure, which may be released when the valve is opened. The valve 4 is mounted on pivots 2, 3 and is provided with a facing-member 8 sliding in a short cylinder 7. Fluid pressure is admitted to the space 9 through an opening 10, and the pressure may be relieved when it is required to open the valve by opening a valve 13 which communicates with the outlet side of the main valve. In a modification shown in Fig. 4, the member 8 may be forced away from its seating when required by admitting fluid pressure behind it through the by-pass conduit 16 and valve 17. In another modification, Fig. 5, the member 8 is retracted by means of a resilient disc 18, when the pressure in the space 9 is relieved.
