Abstract
227,086. Costello, J. A. Jan. 5, 1924, [Convention date]. Actuating - mechanism; lift valves. - A manually actuated lift valve for use on metal oil barrels is adapted to be pushed into its seat and then tightly closed by a rotational movement. The valve member 19, which has a resilient face 21, slides in a cylindrical part of the casing and is formed on member 18 provided with guide discs 22, 25 also slidable in the cylindrical part and with an actuating handle 23. A cam surface 27 is formed on the member 18 between the guide discs adapted, when the valve is near its seat, to engage a pin 29 screwed into the casing. A leakage discharge passage 35 leads into the outlet 33 which is formed at an angle with the inlet connection 11.
