Abstract
193,308. Simpson, D. C. March 29,. 1922. Stays. - A stay and fastener, comprising a notched arm 10, pivotally mounted on the window by pivots 11, 13 and adapted to have a slidable engagement with an eye piece 17 on the window frame, is formed at the pivoted end with a, camshaped member 21 that engages with the eye piece 17 as it is moved into the turned-down position when the window is closed. The cam member is deeper than the width of the notched part of the stay arm, and extends to a part 22 which rests against the eyepiece when the stay arm has been turned down. The eye piece has. in its main slot 20 a lower notch 19 to allow the free passage of the cam part of the stay arm. When the stay is downwardly rotated to secure the window, the cam is moved against the upper edge of the main slot to force the window into the tightly closed position. Notches 18 on the lower edge of the stay bar provide for the adjustment of the window, and the bar is hinged at 23 to avoid the stay projecting too far into the room when thewindow is open to a small extent.
