Abstract

249,103. Spencer, C. E., (Assignee of Roberts, O. W.). March 13, 1925, [Convention date]. Stays.-The stay-bar is pivotally attached to the window frame and carries a slider which is substantially enclosed by and adjustable in a guide secured to the window, the slide being spring-pressed so that its projection makes a locking engagement with slots in a wall or flange of the guide, the slider having a handle by means of which it can be released and the casement opened or closed. The arrangement is described with particular reference to metal casements. A metal stay-bar 24 is pivotally attached at 29 to a bracket 22 on the framing and carries at its other end a pivotally-connected slider 45 which is bent so that its upper part 47 slides in a guide frame 23 secured to the casement. The slider is formed integral with a finger piece 55 so that it can be lifted to disengage a pin 48 from a hole 42 in the guide 23 and against the action of a spring 51, when it is desired to adjust the window. The guide is secured to the casement as shown in Fig. 3 and has a slot 35 through which a side of the slider extends. The outer wall of the slider has a rounded projection 53, which bears against the wall of the guide. The bracket 22 has an angled portion adapted to be set into a notched-out portion of the window frame, and a U-shaped upper end between the sides of which the stay-bar is pivotally connected.
