Abstract
186,691. Jones, F. C. July 1, 1921. Moulding rubber and hollow-ware; moulds.- Hollow rubber articles such as teats, tubing, &c., are moulded by allowing a rubber solution gelled by the Peachey or other similar process to shrink on to a core. The heated solution is poured into a mould a, the core b being previously or then inserted, and, after gelling, the core with the gel attached is removed and set aside to allow the latter to dry and contract. The mould is preferably shaped in accordance with the exterior of the required article, and so as to allow for the irregular contraction of the gel. The core b is centred in the mould a by means of a pin g inserted in an aperture c and fitting into a recess d. Removal of the moulded article is assisted by blowing water &c. through the aperture c. The mould may be formed with a contracted neck by means of a ring i sliding on the core b and having passages j, and may be constructed wholly or in part of flexible material.
