Abstract
182,108. Picarcl, C. E. Veil-. June 25, 1921, [Convention date]. Moulding wheel iyres.-In making a cushion tyre comprising a rubber core 1 formed with closed cavities 2 which are filled with air &c. under pressure, the unvulcanized core 1 having metal tubes fitted ir the apertures 2a is first immersed in cold water for (say) 24 hours to give the rubber sufficient set. The ends of the apertures are then placed in communication by forming fine grooves 9, Fig. 5, in the sides of the core. Rubber caps 10 are then fitted over the apertures and the core assembled in a two-part mould 11, 12 preferably having cover-plates 13, 14 at the division as shown. Air or other gas under pressure is then passed into the cavities by means of a needle-inflator 15.
