Abstract
172,163. Martinsyde, Ltd., and Martin, H. P. Sept. 22, 1920. Revolving and sliding seats; seat adjustments. -A swivelling seat for automobiles &c. is mounted on a plurality of castors b and is adapted to be maintained in position by, and to pivot about disengageable pawls such as h, all except one of the pawls being disengaged when the seat is swivelled. Fig. 3 is a plan view of a disengaging mechanism employed in connection with two pawls. Two bell-cranks d mounted on the back-rest and provided with operating handles c are connected together by a wire tie o and bear on spring-pressed sliding rods e, the lower ends of which are pivoted to levers f mounted on the underside of the seat a and carrying the pawls h. The castors b run on arcuate rails j, k. The rails j have each a hole for the reception of the pawls h, and other holes may be provided to allow the seat to be locked further back to accommodate a larger person than the ordinary. The centre of the seat carries a block l provided with a plate m. Two arcuate guides n mounted on the floor and provided with projecting rims engage one or both ends of the plate m in all positions and prevent jolting &c.
