Abstract
170,871. McIntyre, J., and Milne & Son, Ltd., J. April 29, 1920. Cylinders and drums.-In extracting water from pulp and the like, a perforated roll A is provided with a hood D to which air under pressure is supplied. The pulp web is guided round the roll under the hood by rolls L, S, provided with packing-pieces N of metal,. wood, or other jointing-material. Packing-pieces Y, Fig. 1, form air-tight joints at the ends. The water drips through the bottom of the roll into a save-all X, and is assisted by a blast of air from a pipe T. The roll may be adjusted to the hood by inclined packing-pieces R, or the hood may be raised and lowered.
