Abstract

416,792. Cylinder paper making machines. MILLSPAUGH, W. H., 101, Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, Ohio, U.S.A. March 21, 1933, No. 8513. [Class 96.] In a cylinder paper-making machine wherein pulp is fed between adjustable plates 2 on the walls of the vat, and on to a wire-cloth 7 which travels over the suction zones of the cylinder 3, the plates 2 are spaced away from the wire 7, air being drawn through such spaces 8, by suction of the suction box, the ends 4<a> of which are beyond the edges 9<a> of the web 9, such air currents strengthening the edges 9<a> and removing water from the marginal portions of the wire 7. The invention is applicable to machines as disclosed in Specification 278,817, [Class 96], for making single or multiple-ply paper, or in Specification 332,125, [Class 96], i.e. to machines having divergent plates 22, or to the production of newsprint as disclosed in Specification 288,212, [Class 96].
