Abstract
170,355. Taylor, Son, & Roberts, Ltd., and Taylor, F. H. July 14, 1920. Vices.-A quick-adjustment device for a vice comprises a part-nut mounted in an independent box detachably secured in the vice body, normally held in engagement with the adjusting-screw by a spring, and adapted to be withdrawn by a lever at the front of the vice. A part-nut c, Fig. 4, is slidably mounted in an independent box a secured to the body of the vice by screws passing through lugs a', Fig. 1, and is provided with a shank c<2> passing through a slot in the bottom of the box a, a spring d normally holding the part-nut in engagement with the adjusting-screw b. A cam-finger e mounted on a square spindle f, slidably supported by depending lugs a<3>, engages a slot c' in the shank c<2>, whereby on rotating the spindle f by a lever f<1> carried by a bracket g, Figs. 1 and 12, secured to the front of the vice, the nut a may be released for quick adjustment of the movable jaw. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 5114/85, 25134/06, and 100,666.
