Abstract

159,672. Johnson, F. G. L. Dec. 15, 1919. Hoods.-Attached to the upper edge c, Fig. 1, of the hcod A of a motor-car employing a dicky seat is a rearward extension C, D, secured to supporting-arms g extending from the back of the unfolded dicky seat F and continuing to the back of the car where it is secured to a bolt b by a strap d<1>. Side flaps E close in the sides of the rear of the car, one flap being detachable from the back D of the hood extension and having a cord e<3>, Fig. 7, by which it may be pulled up from the inside. The rear edge of the top is supported by a permanently or temporarily curved batten carried by the arms g. The back of the ordinary hood is dispensed wth, and the opening thus formed is closed by the hood extension when collapsed. The Provisional Specification describes several methods of maintaining the curvature of the rear top batten.
