Rotating-tool machines; stretching by tension. -Hides, skins, or leather to be stretched and scoured are passed between the pinch rolls 1, 2, and the lever 25 is pulled forward so as to operate the links 26 and rock the arms 23 so as to bring the bladed roll 18 against the skin, which is backed up by the fixed bolster 21. The roll 18 rotates at a greater peripheral speed than the rolls 1, 2 and in the same direction, so as to pull upon and stretch the leather and remove wrinkles. A spring 33 enables the roll 18 to yield. In due course the skin reaches the lower pinch rolls 3, 4, whereupon the operator reverses the lever 25 so as to bring the bladed roll 19 into action. This roll rotates oppositely to the rolls 3, 4 so as to pull upwards on the skin, which continues to pass downwards. Jets 35 of water may be discharged on the skin from the pipe 34.
