Abstract
1496602 Knitting machines UNIVERSAL MASCHINENFABRIK DR RUDOLF SCHIEBER 'KG 21 Aug 1975 [10 Sept 1974] 34847/75 Heading D1C Loops to be transferred from needles 3 in one bed of a flat machine to needles 5 in the other bed are first lifted higher than the transfer position by a nose 25 on a transfer cam so as to expand their loops by means of expanders 8 fixed to the needles and then are brought to the transfer position by a lower nose 26, the transfer cam 23 having three noses so as to operate in either direction of travel - one nose 25 and two noses 26, as shown, or vice versa. The transfer position of the needles 3 as shown in Fig. 5 is such that the loops 9 open the latches of the receiving needles as these are lifted by a cam 21. The cam 21 trails on the nose 26 and the active ranges of the cam and nose overlap. As shown, a cam 15 is inserted and all needles 3 are lifted to transfer their loops. Alternatively the cam 15 may be put out of action and a Jacquard device used to lift only selected needles on to the cam 23. In the cam carriage a transfer cam set 12 or 13 is mounted on each side of the stitch cam set for each bed.
