Abstract
1492205 Pistons KUPFER-ASBEST-CO GUSTAV BACH 11 Nov 1975 [15 Nov 1974] 46477/75 Heading F2T A piston 1 for use in a cylinder 2 comprises a supporting member 3 with an opening 9 for a piston rod 10, two sealing lips 14, 15, disposed on the periphery of the supporting member 3, and ribs 17, Fig. 2 (not shown), also disposed on the perphery of the supporting member 3 and extending between the sealing lips 14, 15, the arrngement being such that in use a lubricant space 19 is formed, bounded axially by the sealing lips 14, 15, radially by the supporting member 3 and the cylinder 2, and divided into pockets by the ribs 17, Fig. 2 (not shown). The embodiments show a rigid supporting member 3 with a one-piece rubber covering 16 which forms the lips 14, 15, the ribs 17, and cushioning projections 25, 25<SP>1</SP>. The ribs may be parallel to the axis of the piston 1 as in Fig. 2 (not shown) or inclined to it as in Fig. 3 (not shown), said to produce rotation and thus to equalize wear.
