Abstract

1443083 Shock absorbers ACE CONTROLS Inc 20 Feb 1974 7657/74 Heading F2S A shock absorber comprises a cylinder 11 containing liquid, a screw-threaded casing 10 sliding over the cylinder, a piston-rod 18 fixed to the casing 10, extending through a seal 41 into the cylinder and carrying a piston 22, the piston having peripheral clearance in the cylinder and a valve 30 which closes as the piston moves into cylinder on impact, and means 39 within the casing to re-extend the shock absorber after impact. As the shock absorber extends the valve 30 opens. Figs. 5-19 (not shown) depict alternative grooved constructions for the peripheral surface of the piston.
