Abstract

1478602 Powder type portable fire extinguisher RAMPART ENG CO Ltd 10 Nov 1975 46351/75 Heading ASA A portable, powder-type fire extinguisher comprises a casing 1 containing the powder and a neck ring 3, a powder discharge tube 7 with gas cartridge 5 located therein, a fitting 4 containing axial ports to allow escape of powder to nozzle 23 and radial ports 6 to allow gas to pass into annular chamber 30 and dip tube 32 whose free end is below the surface of the powder. The gas released through 32 fluidizes the powder and expels it past cartridge 5 and through the axial ports. In a second embodiment, Fig. 3, the tube 32 is concentric with and external to powder discharge tube 7.
