Abstract

1,147,006. Dry powder fire extinguishers. SAMUEL JONES & CO. [ENGINEERING] Ltd. 4 March, 1968 [3 March, 1967], No. 10084/67. Heading A5A. A dry powder fire extinguisher, having a removable cartridge holder 5 supported by neck ring 4 and carrying gas discharge tube 8 and powder outlet tube 12, carries a closure cap 13, incorporating cartridge piercer 14 and powder outlet aperture 19, threaded on to the neck ring and defining with the holder an annular, chamber 18 to which powder flows from tube 12 to pass into aperture 19. Annular chamber 18 is defined between the upper face of holder 5, hollow boss 16 and the inner wall of cap 13. The top of tube 8 is threaded into a blind hole in holder 5, and port 9 is drilled between the hole and the upper end of the central bore. On operation gas passes through port 9 and down tube 8, and gas with entrained powder is ejected via chamber 18.
