Abstract

1475754 Shaped charges IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 8 Sept 1975 [21 Oct 1974] 45374/74 Heading F3A A shaped charge comprises a space 9 enclosed between a metal element 8 and a metal liner 4. The liner may be conical, frusto-conical or sphero-conical and the metal element 8 may present a flat, conical, concave or convex surface to the enclosed space 9 or outwardly towards the base of the liner. The element 8 may be a sphere of copper or steel whose diameter at the periphery of contact with the liner is from 5% to 35% of the diameter of the base of the liner. The explosive charge 10, 11 may be a liquid composition which is mixed immediately before use and loaded through a neck 2, the neck being closed with a stopper 12 through which a priming loop 13 of detonating cord having a core charge of 6 grams/foot of PETN is threaded.
