Abstract
917,886. Explosive charges. WASAGCHEMIE A.G. July 13, 1961 [Jan. 21, 1961], No. 25458/61. Addition to 855,932. Class 9 (1). A blasting charge as in the parent Specification wherein the dimensions of face 2 of charge 1 and of hollow body or guiding sleeve 3 lie within certain prescribed limits. The angle of taper α lies between 5 and 14 degrees, the ratio of height h to the diameter of face 2 lies between 1.6 : 1 and 5 : 1 and the diameter d of the bottom opening of the sleeve is less than 25% of the diameter of face 2. The sleeve 3 need not be a truncated cone, but may, for example, be part of a parabolic solid of revolution. Also d may be reduced to zero by extension of the sleeve or the sleeve may be extended by a cylindrical portion having a bore of diameter d. Tables of results are given obtained by using the various types of sleeve with wall thicknesses varying from 1 mm. to 10 mm. and a charge of TNT. and hexogen with face 2 of diameter 45 mm.
