Abstract
1451166 Jib cranes V J HOLOPAINEN 14 March 1974 11478/74 Heading B8B [Also in Division E1] A mobile crane comprises a vehicle articulated about a vertical axis, and a junction element, e.g. 38, located over the articulation and having a first part attached to the vehicle and a second part mounted on the first part for pivoted movement about a second axis concident with the vertical axis and adapted to receive a derrick. The derrick comprises three telescoping parts 56, 57 and 58 operated by internal hydraulic actuators, the outer end of part 56 having pulleys 59 and 61 over which passes a cable 62 associated with a block and hook element 63. The junction element has three portions 38, 39 and 41, Fig. 9, which may be operated to subject the derirck to motion in a roll, pitch and yaw mode respectively. The portion 38 comprises a part 65 pivoted, about an axis 68 extending longitudinally of the vehicle, to a part 64. Hydraulic actuators 71 allow the angle between the parts 64 and 65 to be selected. The second portion 39 is constructed in a similar manner to the portion 38 with the exception that the pivot axis 74 extends transversely to the vehicle. The third portion 41 consists of a part 77 pivotally mounted on a shaft 78 of a part 76, the part 77 having an internal gear 81 which engages with a pin gear 83 which is rotated by an hydraulic actuator 82.
