Abstract

1443553 Burners BRITISH GAS CORP 4 Oct 1974 [25 July 1973] 35401/73 Heading F4T A toroidal aerated gas burner for a gas cooker comprises an ignition means 13 mounted in a central air space 15, the inner wall of the burner having an orifice 12 for primary gas/air mixture to pass so as to entrain secondary air in space 15 to produce an ignitable gas/air stream directed towards igniter 13, the resultant ignition flame being arranged to turn to ignite the gas/air mixture at the main burner ports 7. The gas burner is formed by a cast metal annular portion and an upper detachable metal annular cap 3 which has the main burner ports and a cross-lighting slot 8 formed therein. A cover plate 9 may be provided and mounted so as to form a gap 11. Igniter 13 may take the form of a high tension spark electrode, or an electric incandescent filament. Gas/air mixture is fed to the burner through a pipe 6. A gas cooker having one or more such toroidal burners is referred to.
