1420978 PVC compositions BICC Ltd 23 March 1973 [24 March 1972 6 March 1973] 8325/73 and 10766/73 Divided out of 1418027 Heading C3P A vinyl chloride polymer composition comprises a plasticizer, 100 parts of vinyl chloride polymer, 5 to 250 parts of a filler of which at least 5 parts is bismuth subcarbonate and 3 to 25 parts of antimony trioxide or sulphide as a fire-retardant. A further fire-retardant may be added if necessary. In examples polyvinyl chloride is compounded with dialkyl phthalate plasticizers, chloroparaffin, bismuth subcarbonate and antimony trioxide or sulphide. Comparative examples using calcium carbonate as filler are also described. The compositions are used for insulation or sheathing of electric cables.
