Abstract

1418757 Femoral prosthesis SARATOVSKY GOSUDARSTVENNY MEDITSINSKY INSTITUT 22 March 1973 [4 May 1972] 13815/73 Heading A5R A prosthesis for the proximal portion of the femur comprises a head 1 integral with a neck 2 to which is fixed a split shank 8 adapted to be threaded into a seat 7 provided in a broadened end part 5 of a shaft 3 for, insertion into the medulla, the part 5 having a bore 9 which receives a screw 11 which serves as a lock for the trochanter major and also for locking the shank 8 to prevent the neck 2 from self-unscrewing during use of the prosthesis. Openings 4 through which bone tissue can grow are provided in shaft 3.
