Abstract

1421366 Hip joint implant SARATOVSKY GOSUDARSTVENNY MEDITSINSKY INSTITUT 25 April 1973 [4 May 1972 (2)] 19540/73 Heading A5R A hip joint having the endoprosthesis of the proximal section of the femur formed by a head 6 and neck 7 passing into an intertrochantic section 8, which merges with a shaft 9 through a flared portion and is bounded in its proximal part by two faces 11, 12 in planes which converge in a direction towards the neck which is mounted on one of them. The joint is made of titanium with head 6 and bushes 5 of a cobalt, chrome molybdenum alloy. Blades 3 and orifices formed on the external surface of endoprosthesis 1 and fenestrations in the shaft 9 promote tissue ingrowth. An orifice 15, lock screw 17 and nut 18 are provided for attachment of the trochanter major. A bearing pad 19 is provided to abutt the femoral plane formed by the removal of the femoral neck from the natural bore.
