Abstract

1411844 Reciprocating pumps BIRMINGHAM SMALL ARMS CO Ltd 3 June 1974 10666/73 Heading F1A A lubricating pump for an I.C. engine, e.g. a two-stroke, has its output controlled according to the engine throttle setting, and comprises a piston 6 rotated by a worm and worm-wheel drive 10, 9 and reciprocated by the action of an annular face cam 23 formed on worm-wheel 9 and biased towards a peg 24 by a spring 14, the piston stroke being adjustable by a longitudinallymovable stop member 16 having a tapered cam surface 17 engageable by a stop pin 8 formed on the end of the piston and defining a pumping chamber 27, an axial groove 25 in the piston connecting the pumping chamber 27 alternately to an inlet port 26 and an outlet port 28. Stop member 16 is movable against spring 18 by a cable 19 connected to the engine throttle control, the minimum stroke setting being adjustable by screw 33. Stop pin 8 and seal assembly 22 may be of different diameters to vary the pump capacity. A passage 31 conveys lubricant from inlet 26 to actuating mechanism chamber 11 having an airventing screw 32.
