Abstract

138,296. Gates, C. C. Oct. 7, 1919. Tread bands. -A new wearing tread 5 is cemented to a worn casing 6 in such a manner as to leave a fullness 15 at the sides so as to relieve the tread band of inflation stresses. Fig. 5 shows the actual tread portion, and the portions adjacent the edges, being pressed into position by hand, the bellied portions 15 being maintained by means of a tool 10. The portions 15 and the edges of the band are finally rolled into close adhesion with the casing.
