Abstract
167,336. Master, S. D. May 25, 1920. Tread bands.-A, tread band is formed of separate segments 8, fiexibly connected as shown in Fig. 2, and is held to the pneumatic tyre cover 1 by flanges 4 upon each segment, Fig. 1. In order to maintain the alignment of the segments, a metal band 6 is provided which may be corrugated transversely throughout its length, or only at the parts adjacent to the joints between the segments as shown at 7, Fig. 2. The rounded parts 9 of the segments 8 may be upset at their ends which extend beyond the edges of the segments as shown at 11<a>, Fig. 6 in which case the continuous metal band 6 is not necessary.
