1355964 Door handle assemblies B LILLY & SONS Ltd 4 Aug 1971 [8 Aug 1970] 38311/70 Heading E2A A door latch handle assembly 11 comprises a base structure 12 adapted to be mounted upon the face of a door panel, a handle 20 rotatably mounted upon and carried by the base structure and adapted to be operativelyengaged in use, with a latch-operating spindle 30 extending through the door panel, and door handle control means providing stop means 40, 42a, 42b to limit the angular movement of the handle. The handle control means is embodied in a separate, independent, self-contained, structural unit 34 which fits detachably in located position into a recess in the base structure 12 so as to be carried, independently of the handle, by the structure and the unit comprises a carrier member 37 in which is journalled a captive, rotatable, hub member 35 loaded by a spring 46, for controlling return movement of the handle, and which engages a shank portion 23 of the handle to establish operative connection between the handle and the handle control means. As shown, the member 37 is formed with a convex, arcuate, cross-sectional contour 48 engaged by the complementary concave, arcuate profile of the member 35 when the latter is snapped into the member 37. The handle is secured in position on the structure 12 by a washer 32 frictionally retained in a groove in the shank portion 23, but in a modification, Fig. 9, there is used a domed washer 60 and a wire circlip 61.
