Abstract
1523863 Twistlock W B NESS 29 Oct 1975 [6 Aug 1974] 34665/74 Heading E2B A twistlock fastening comprises a hollow mounting body 1 supporting a bolster or guide member 3 for vertical sliding movement thereon, the member 3 rotatably carrying a spindle 20 having a T-head 2 which may be passed through a slot 80 in container 8 and secured therein by rotating to a position transverse of the slot, the spindle 20 having projections 60 engaging recesses 40 in housing 4 of the body 1 when in the raised position so that the spindle must be further raised to disengage projections 60 and recesses 40 before rotation of the T-head for disengagement from container 8. As shown, the operating handle 5 has a continuation (50, Fig. 1, not shown) which rests on ledge 7 on body 1 in the raised, but disengaged position (Fig. 1) so that further raising of spindle 20 is necessary to clear ledge 7 and enable engagement of projections 60 and recesses 40 on rotation of T-head. Spindle 20 has spring-loaded balls 90 engaging detents 39 in bolster 3 in both aligned and transverse positions of T-head 2.
