Abstract

1347940 Dredgers INDUSTRIEELE HANDELSCOMBINATIE HOLLAND NV 3 Nov 1972 50799/72 Heading B7A [Also in Division E1] A dredger comprising a floatable body such as a pontoon 1 and a bucket ladder 2 for engaging at one end the water bed, has a suspension means including a device for allowing relative movement between the body and the one end of the ladder, and an arm 9 pivotally connecting the other end of the ladder to the body to allow relative pivotal and longitudinal movement therebetween. In a preferred embodiment superstructure 3 carries a winch 4 for hauling in or veering a ladder cable 5 which passes over a pulley 6 carried by a sea or swell compensation device 7 constituted by a pressure fluid piston cylinder unit. Another compensating device 11 may be pivotally connected between the piston 1 and the ladder 2. Material dredged from the sea bed passes from the ladder 2 to a shoot 12 pivotally mounted to the arms 9.
