Abstract

1521185 Bucket ladder dredgers INDUSTRIEELE HANDELSCOMBINATIE HOLLAND NV 13 April 1976 [24 April 1975] 15092/76 Heading E1F In a dredger comprising a bucket ladder 2 suspended from a pontoon 1 by pivoted arms 3, 9 and a cable 7, swell compensation devices 5, 8 are disposed between the pontoon and the arms 3, 9 and are so mounted and/or coupled that the increase of the average load on one swell compensator due to a change in the operating depth hb of the bucket ladder is compensated by a substantially equal decrease of the average load on the other compensator and vice versa. The swell compensation devices 5, 8 may include springs but are shown in the form of two pairs of hydraulic units 11, 12 in Fig. 3. The units are interconnected by a conduit 13 containing hydraulic accumulators 16, 17, 18 and pumps 14, 15 coupled to a common motor 19. A calculating device 22 receives signals from position measuring devices 20, 21 on the units and controls the operation of the pumps 14, 15, whereby liquid can be transferred from one pair of units to the other to increase the pressure in one swell compensation device and decrease it in the other. The compensation devices may be pneumatic.
