1316592 Dispensing closures W LEEDS and L A MICALLEF [trading as LEEDS & MICALLEF] 23721/70 Heading B8T A closure for a container of flowable material comprises a cap 120 to which a lever 270 is pivoted at 280, the lever being in the form of a discharge opening 320 at one end. A stopper 390 on the lever 270 co-operates with a duct 220 on the lid portion 180 of the cap. In operation, an arm 290 of the lever is depressed, and thus the discharge end of the lever pivots upwardly and the stopper 390 is carried clear of the duct 220, whereupon the contents can be poured. The lever 270 may be held open by the surface 296 co-operating with the lip 421. The surfaces 375, 376 of the lever contacting the duct 220 are rounded to facilitate movement, but in another embodiment (Fig. 7, not shown) this is effected by means of a resilient duct (22a). In a further embodiment (Fig. 3, not shown) the duct (22) is carried by the lever and extends into a well (21) in the top of the container, the duct being closed by a stopper (39) in the well. When the lever is pivoted to the open position, the duct is carried clear of the stopper and the contents can be removed, passing into the duct (22) through a series of holes in the well. To protect the lever, an overcap can be fitted (Fig. 13, not shown), or the lip 421 can be built up to the level of the top surface of the cap (Fig. 6, not shown). The cap is preferably made from plastics.
