Abstract

1297791 Doffing and donning bobbins in open end spinning TMM (RESEARCH) Ltd 30 July 1970 [6 Aug 1969] 39425/69 Headings DID and D1J An open end spinning machine has yarn take-up means comprising a bobbin 24 with a drive roller 25 and auxiliary yarn take-up means such as a suction nozzle 26 to take-up yarn delivered during replacement of a completed bobbin 24 with an empty one. The spinning element comprises a feed roller 12 co-operating with a spring loaded lever 13 and a combing out roller 14 feeding fibres to a rotor 17 from which yarn is delivered via delivery tube 20 by delivery rollers 22 and 23. An end break detector 29 serves to operate a brake on the feed roller 12 in the event of an ends down. A lid 27 is provided on nozzle 26 so only the nozzle at a station being serviced need be in use. An alternative auxiliary yarn take-up means is illustrated in Fig. 2, (not shown) comprising a waste collecting roller (34), which may be collapsible, driven by the drive roller (25). The bobbin is mounted on a swinging lever (32) for disengagement from the driving roller 25. A similar lever (35) mounts the waste collecting roller (34). A traverse guide (30) is provided.
