Abstract

1292402 Printing apparatus COORS PORCELAIN CO 3 Nov 1970 [17 Nov 1969] 52287/70 Heading B6C The cylindrical surfaces of articles 61 are printed whilst rolling on an imaged offset blanket segment 12 which is presented to the circular lines of travel of the articles by the interaction of a fixed cam surface 25 and a roller 23 associated with the blanket 12 and travelling in a circular path on a rotating drum 10 to which all the blanket segments used in the printing apparatus are pivotably attached. If an article 61 is missing from the feed path to the rotating blanket segments a detector automatically ensures that the associated segment is not moved into printing position. This is effected by employing a bridge member 34 between the cam roller 23 and the segment holder 11. When the detector senses the absence of an article 61 a pneumatic cylinder 50 causes the bridge member to be withdrawn from the operative line between the roller 23 and the segment holder, a lever 43 and reciprocable red 38 being used for this purpose.
