Abstract

1291611 Drafting; stop motion DEERING MILLIKEN RESEARCH CORP 24 March 1970 [24 March 1969 (2)] 14271/70 Heading D1D In a drafting arrangement means are provided to stop the supply of fibres when a lap occurs. As shown a member 62 of resilient, mouldable plastics material is mounted to be a snap fit on a lower, rear drafting roller 16; it has a notch 76 which is normally engaged by a hook member 60 mounted on a cradle 32 carrying a roving guide 40 and apron cleaning and guiding elements 30, 31. If, as is shown in Fig. 2, a lap occurs on front lower roller 24 cradle 32 is lifted by the lap to be rotated clockwise, hook 60 thus being moved out of engagement with notch 76. Member 62 then rotates with roller 16 until a projection 69 thereon with serrations 72 engages roller 14, thus trapping the sliver and causing it to be broken. In Figs. 7 to 10 not shown a single stop member is associated with two drafting positions so that the sliver at both positions is broken should there be a lap up at either position.
