Abstract
1280258 Gas blast circuit breakers BROWN BOVERI & CO Ltd 9 Dec 1970 [11 Dec 1969] 58430/70 Heading H1N A gas blast circuit breaker has three pressure vessels 2, 4a, 4b, the first of which contains gas at the breaker operating pressure and the other two contain gas above the breaker operating pressure, a valve 3 interconnecting vessels 2 and 4a and a restriction 6 interconnecting vessels 4a and 4b. The breaker has arc extinction chambers 1b connected via a hollow insulating column 1a with the vessel 2. The vessels 4a, 4b are compartments of a single vessel 4 separated by an apertured plate 6, the volume of 4b being at least four times greater than that of 4a. A further valve may be placed in series or parallel with the valve 3, Figs. 1a, 1b (not shown), the simultaneous opening of both valves being determined by the value of current to be interrupted.
