Abstract

1322563 Gas blast circuit breakers BROWN BOVERI & CO Ltd 29 Oct 1970 [31 Oct 1969] 51418/70 Heading H1N A gas blast circuit breaker has an insulating housing 1 filled with high pressure gas and has main parallel feed contacts 3 and arcing contacts 4. Moving contacts 8 and 7 are mounted on a hollow rotatable tube 5 having oppositely positioned nozzles 6 through which the arc extinguishing blast passes when an exhaust valve in the tube is opened. The contacts 4 and 7, open after the main contacts 3, 8 separate. The arc is subsequently transferred to arcing conductor 10 mounted on the baffle wall 9 which partitions the tube.
