Abstract

128,003. Herbert, Sir A., and Lloyd, A. H. June 13, 1918. Sockets.-Means for holding the shank B' of a milling-cutter B or like tool in a socket or arbor A, comprises a nut C screwing on to the tool at B<3> and engaging by a flanged portion C' a recess behind the collar A<2> on the socket, the flanged portion of the nut being cut away transversely at one part to allow of its removal when desired, after removing a screw C<4>. In a modification, the nut screws on to the arbor A, and has a flanged portion engaging between collars on the tool, the flanged portion being cut away eccentrically to allow the nut to be removed from the tool. In either case, the nut may be used to start withdrawing the tool from the socket.
