Abstract

130,717. Walker, H. S. June 29, 1918. Screwing; tool-holders. - In a tool and toolholder for chasing screw-threads, of the type in which the tool, of high-speed steel or other material, is secured in a slotted two-prong holder, the tool has a key connexion with the internal surface of one of the prongs. The holder a is slotted to a two-prong formation, the outer face e being preferably rounded off so as to clear threads being formed on interiors of small diameter. The tool b for internal threads is secured by a bolt d which passes through the tool and screws into the lower prong of the holder. A half-round projection c on the tool engages a similar groove in the holder. In cutting external threads, the cutting-teeth of the tool are formed on the edge projecting from the end of the holder.
