Abstract

1,267,143. Plate heat exchangers. THERMOVATIC SVERRE K. JENSSEN A.B. 10 Nov., 1970 [10 Nov., 1969], No. 53401/70. Heading F4S. The casing 1, 2 of a heat exchanger contains a heat exchange element comprising a strip folded as shown in Fig. 2 so as to form passages 5 for one fluid which alternate with passages 4 for the other fluid. The passage walls have integrally formed projections, e.g. corrugations 13, Fig. 4, and the projections of opposing passage walls are in abutment. One fluid flows through the passages 4 between inlet and outlet connections 6, 7. The other passages 5 are sealed off at the strip edges, and also at one lateral edge by a wall 2a of the casing part 2, to provide a flow path for the other fluid between headers 10, 11, uniform distribution of this fluid through the whole cross-section of each passage 5 being assisted by other corrugations 13a adapted to provide greater flow resistance for that part A 2 of the fluid stream flowing in the passages 5.
